My story begins in 1944, at the dawn of WWII. A story that speaks of the my feelings as a young child caught in a turmoil of devastation, of ordeal, unimaginable loss and indomitable will to survive. Lara speaks of her travels on the path of her harrowing ordeals, of not being able to label her feelings, she would not have known how, but kept going by instinct, which as matter, later in life turns to wisdom.
It has been difficult for Lara to go back to the indelible images which have been etched in her memory, the sounds of the drum beats of war. “What happened is never really over, but it is possible to find meaning and purpose in life and the world afterwards.” It is not over for Lara, she is searching for her roots, for her lost family, she is searching for some answers for the inevitably fragmented memories caused of horror and trauma that she endured, for the “missing link” of her ancestors. The wish to find answers would be gratifying and also some closure, would Lara ever be able to find that? Lara is sitting in the garden where she started writing ” No Time to Cry” , the story that speaks of pain, sorrow and is a lasting testament celebration of life. After all the journey, the only comment Lara makes is “I am a person, meant to have survived the dire days, all I want to do is reach out to the needy and be a good person.”
