Today is Mother’s Day. It is sunny and warm, just right to enjoy the garden. All those glorious spring flowers! I remember how in 1944, during our flight to freedom in WW ll, I was looking for flowers to give my mother. I was seven years old then. All around me was just ruins and scorched trees. The meadows had been turned into small volcanos, instead of lava, smoke and debris kept coming up after the powerful blasts. All seemed so morbid. How am I going to find flowers for Mother! I kept walking in the ditches, near the fallen soldiers I found a tiny dandelion, it looked so lonely but beautiful, it had survived! I did not pick it, it must live and give strength to others to keep going and keep their faith. Years have gone by, painful memories and wounds are deeply etched in my heart. “Happy Mother’s Day ” Mother.
