My little friend, the snail, (Helix Aspersa) gave me the strength to start writing my story. His shell protected his delicate body. Had I found a kindred spirit who would endure listening to my painful story? In case it became too sad for him, he could retreat if need to. I have a shall of my own, it is invisible but just as strong, it is my music and faith.
My book is apolitical and relevant to many issues to today’s society. War is not the only cause that can put people in great difficulties. There are natural disasters, illness and global unrest that can destroy lives, it can leave the victims in a hopeless situation to the point that they have no strength to keep going. I was enjoying the tranquility of the summer twilight hour in my garden. All was so still, a bird flew over the tree tops, the crickets started their serenade to the flowers. A little snail (Helix Aspersa) started to emerge from the shell, I admired its courage. It had a hard shell to protect its delicate body.I wondered,did it want to share its story with me and I could share mine with it? The snail will be able to endure…..
My book is the true story of my ordeal as a young girl in World War ll. It is apolitical and only tells about the personal cost to people caught in the middle and how it affects in life later on. The book was instrumental to my healing and I hope that it will help my readers to keep their optimism for their struggles for their survival.
