KIRKUS REVIEW: “A beautifully written memoir about the author’s horrid childhood experiences Latvia during World War ll. An honest, heartbreaking story of a child exposed to prolonged war and how the psychological effects of war can linger into adulthood”. BLUEINK REVIEW:…..it is a striking exploration of brutality as experienced by one too young to comprehend anything beyond her own narrow horizon . Readers will find this young girl’s journey both poignant and powerful”. CLARION REVIEW: “In her memoir “No Time…..
My book is a story of my ordeal as a small child in WW ll. It was very difficult to deal with all the harrowing issues. The heartbreak of watching my home burn down was traumatic, the scene has never left me all these years. All was destroyed, all I could retrieve in the ashes was a small stone, which became my symbol of strength.
My book is not about good guys or bad guys, heroism or military campaigns, it really shows the personal cost of WW ll, and all wars for the matter, to ordinary people caught in the middle. I wrote this book because I reached a point in my life where the feelings that I had bottled up since I was a child had to come out and find words, not because the world needed another survivor memoir.
